Karijini is a place I never grow tired of — a landscape with its own quiet spirit. At dawn and dusk the gorge comes alive: birds erupt in chorus, frogs call from the shadows, and thin ribbons of water continue their journey before the heat returns. This ancient country holds stories deeper than its gorges, and its beauty is overwhelming.
I always return to this viewpoint above Joffre Gorge. After a long, hot day, the rock shifts into a radiant, molten red. I captured this image in 2015; it went on to be featured in The Australian’s Heart of the Nation, and this is its first release as a print.
